GRACE CHAPELCONCEPT
Grace Chapel is a demonstration design project modeled after the practical building success of Grace Bible Church. It utilizes the same program and plan but achieves a much higher level of architectural expression. This design presents an integrated architecture in which beauty, function and economy are equally calibrated. There is no attempt to create a religious, iconic or symbolic design. Rather there is a clear modernist ideal reflected in an elegant composition of spaces and surfaces which may elicit the aesthetic sensibilities and emotions of those that gather in this building and elevate the experience of poetic space. In addition, there is a sense of order expressed in the architecture that reflects the essence of the words that will be proclaimed in this building.
A small contemplative garden adjacent to the pastor's office which is also visible from the auditorium creates a calm space on one side of the building. The large expanses of glass on the opposite side engage the street engendering a sense of vibrancy with the community.
